Where History and Sea Meet
From Kronborg, you can view North Zealand, the Øresund, and our Swedish neighbor from unique angles.
The Cannon Tower, the oldest tower of Kronborg, was once the tallest until the Swedes arrived and reduced it to the shortest. Fortunately, visitors can still enjoy the panoramic views over North Zealand, and on a clear day, perhaps even catch a glimpse all the way to Copenhagen.
From the Flag Bastion, you can watch ships sail by, keep an eye on the neighboring coast—or let your imagination run wild and spot a giant tuna leaping in the Sound.
Finally, there is the Helsingborg Raveline, part of the castle’s historic defenses. Originally built to protect against enemies approaching from the north, today it simply offers a magnificent view of the sound completely free from any threat of attack.
A Royal View
These views might take your breath away. Just like they did in the Renaissance.
From the Tower Room you can keep an eye on the traffic in the Øresund. Many years ago, the Danish kings could monitor the trade in the strait when they collected the Øresund toll.
The Queen's Gallery is the place where Queen Sofie had a personal and private retreat, where she could withdraw from the hustle and bustle of the court, and enjoy a splendid view of the ramparts and the Øresund.
